Just look at France!

An old e-mail from an angry conservative who's "greatest fear as an American mother is that some of our American daughters will breed with the liberals and add more goofballs to the cesspool of liberalism which is really fascism in disguise." Whoo!

St. Matthew's: Reactions

Please see the section devoted solely to reader backlash against the St. Matthew's rant.

Socially Conservative

Another 'Conservative Outlook' from a rather liberal teacher who feels that a conservative lifestyle is the best way to live. Some very interesting points are made about decriminalization and government regulation of behavior.

Fear, Terror, and the American Way of Life

Tom Kawel uses the National Blackout to illustrate his newfound hatred for the word 'terrorism' and his frustration with other American Stereotypes which have come to permeate our culture. I respond with my own two cents on the politics of fear.

The Politics of Alcohol

A guy named Eric writes in to express his... sincere disagreement with Mr. Steve Tripp's viewpoints on third-party politics. Will it ever cease?

Much Ado About the Greens

This correspondence criticizes the merits of the Libertarian party and the future goals and strategies of the Green Party. Also, I contribute my own two cents on the legitimacy of the Greens.

The New UN: Global Peacekeeping X-Treme

A hilarious contribution from Ben Townsend, suggesting that the UN move from the Jeeps, which "look like they belong to an eighth grader's benchmark project," over to something more suitable, such as "black, tinted windowed, dangerously silent, SUV's. With guns. Big ones." A short, uncontroversial read.

Election 2000: Redux

Young, brash, and cleverly hilarious libertarian Neil Schlick takes on our resident Middle-Aged White Guy, Mr. Steve Tripp, contesting his assertion that if third-party voters had voted for Al Gore, America would not be facing the prospect of war with Iraq (see Resistance to the War). Hair gets tousled, usually foppish demeanors are tossed aside, and some harsh invective is exchanged in this, my favorite series of e-mails.

A Conservative Outlook

An e-mail I received from a self-described conservative warhawk, I posted this not only because it feeds my ego, but because it further affirms what I already knew: that Samuel L. Jackson should be the President of the United States.
Updated: Al Brewer writes in to suggest Denzel "Couldn't-Direct-His-Way-Out-Of-A-Paper-Bag" Washington for President.

Resistance to the War

Mr. Steve Tripp writes in to comment on the ineffectuality of the antiwar movement, criticizing the ideology of "yell louder, fight harder!" and suggesting a shift in tactics that could better appeal to the mainstream American. It was this commentary that sparked the debate in Election 2000: Redux. A very worthwhile read.

War in Iraq

Hipp dogg Tommy Kawel writes in to defend the United State's war against Iraq, arguing that "Hussein is a mad-ass bastard." Surprisingly, despite our opposing views, the debate remains controlled and well-mediated.

Affirmative Action
This series of e-mails, in which resident Middle-Aged White Guy, Mr. Steve Tripp, makes his first appearance, caused me to lanch the Reader Mail page. Lowell Boileau begins a discussion sparked by my comments in a front page article (accessible in the archive: It's 2003 and I'm sick of this shit) in which I referred to Affirmative Action policies as bullshit. This is probably the longest, most in-depth exchange on the site.
