3/18/02 8:37 PM- Site Design v0.15 Redesigned the site a bit, added the sidebar so navigation would be easier. I realize in doing this that my computer is at a resolution of 1152x864, and the site looks fine on my box, but if you run at a significantly lower resolution, I'd be more than willing to put up low-resolution versions of the pages for you. Drop me a line if you'd like that.
3/15/02 10:13 PM- Today I added two new quotes of the moment, and changed the artist of the moment. This coming weekend I may be able to get some content up, depending on how much initiative I have later on... if NeoPhreak would stop being a little bitch than I'd have some content from him to post, but alas, I don't. I may also consider starting a "quote of the moment" archive for past quotes, and cleaning up the front page news a bit. I wanted to point out a new link I added to the bottom of the page that a friend of mine suggested, adbusters.org. It's really quite an interesting magazine and website, and has a lot of cool ideas. The whole website is ad-free and contains a few "unadvertisements" mocking big-label products and consumer-capitalist culture. Along with landoverbaptist.org, another one of my favorite sites, definitely worth checking out.
3/14/02 7:35 PM- High-quality entertainment. Yesterday, while visiting an old friend, I was privileged to experience a true gem in the world of televised programing, what is sure to bring about a new revolution in high-class high-budget TV. That's right, being the lucky person that I am, I was able to partake in FOX's defining moment of network history- Celebrity Boxing. That's right folks, FOX has finally brought the TV-viewing world exactly what they've been screaming for to fill the black void between episodes of WCW Nitro and WWF Smackdown: Vanilla Ice. In a boxing ring. With some random black guy. That's right, everyone's favorite washed-up white rapper got his ass kicked by Todd Bridges. Now, neither I nor my friend had any idea who this was, but we could easily envision how he got there:
High-level FOX Executive (approaching some guy on the street): Hey, you! Have you ever heard of "Vanilla Ice"?
Random Black Guy: Vanilla Ice?! Why I'll cap that crackah`!
High-level FOX Executive (handing Random Black Guy $10,000): Welcome aboard!
And thus Vanilla, who's career has been clinically dead since his hit single 'Ice, Ice, Baby', was beaten down by some other washed-up celebrity in front of a TV audience of at least twenty-six and a half. How humiliating. I later found out that in fact, Todd Bridges actually held the prestigious role of Gary Coleman's sidekick in the TV sitcom Different Strokes. How could I have forgotten? If FOX wanted a real audience they should have pitted Gary Coleman against Vanilla Ice in a fight to the death. That's ex-celebrity action that you can take the the bank. Now, you may be wondering why FOX would even consider doing something this sad on TV... pitting celebrities with dead careers who've never set foot in a boxing ring before against each other in painfully short and humiliating fights. But what's even worse is that FOX knew full well that they wouldn't make any money off of it. That's right, in order to get more advertising revenue, perhaps because they actually expected these fights to be publicized in the external news, they actually TATTOOED the web address of their advertiser's site on the backs of the boxers. I only wish I were joking... one of the contestants in each fight (coincidentally, the winner of the fight) had GOLDENPALACE.COM in large black letters across their backs. With shameless and straightforward TV like this, how can networks lose? On a completely unrelated note, don't forget to stay tuned for The Thought Emporium's very own Celebrity Boxing! Dead Celebrity Rumble... pitting such well-known historical figures as Washington vs. Lenin, Ghandi vs. Hitler, Marilyn Monroe vs. John F. Kennedy, and much much more! Don't miss the gut- wrenching corpse-crunching dead-celebrity action, and don't forget to place your bets on the fighters with our name emblazoned brightly on their faces! Let the money roll in!
3/13/02 8:17 PM- Lucky for you, I took some time out of my busy schedule of being sick, throwing up, and doing homework to write an update for the site! Although I wish that my life could be miserable all the time, I had to take a break for the sakes of your sorry collective asses. Today I added the books & propaganda section with as much interesting literature as I've had the time to read... yes, I know that there are a few things I left off the list, but I tried to include all the most important stuff. Overall it's pretty interesting, check it out.
3/10/02 4:41 PM- My apologies for the lack of recent updates, but I've been sick, had a massive math project to do, and was without power yesterday and earlier today. I plan on getting a "books and propaganda" page up very soon with some interesting literature and links for the open-minded individual. I'm also considering changing the site's format... if you don't like it now, drop me a line and let me know ('feedback' at the bottom of the page). If you remember NeoPhreak from Digital Anarchy, I believe he's going to be writing some rants and articles for this site, so hopefully you can expect some content from him soon. If you're interesting in writing or submitting content or pictures, contact me as soon as you can, and please check back often, I'm doing my best to update the page consistently. Thanks for your support.
3/5/02 5:20 PM- I've a headache and have decided that the only place I can get anything done is on Linux... Windows no longer plays my games, KaZaA used to rock, but seems to be notoriously sucky as of late, and I'm forced to used Windows to update this site for you cretins. I added a poetry section with some stuff I wrote this past weekend on the ski trip, and I've also added the site's first rant / article, on Saint Matthew's Prosperity Seed Harvest Plan! See what Jesus can do for your finances and read the article today! Also, my new AIM screenname is Identity00001.
2/27/02 3:48 PM- The pictures section is up with pics from the end of eighth grade, eighth grade graduation, and band camp. When I get more film developed, you can expect more. Also, I plan on scanning a few of my favorite comics for the site.
2/26/02 7:53 PM- Today I added the quote of the moment, which happens to be one of my favorite passages from Russell. You can expect it to be updated every few days with a new quote that I think is worthy of some collective pondering. Please, feel free to send me your thoughts on the quote of the moment, or a quote that you think deserves the spot for a little while. Also, it would be great if I could receive some content submissions from you all... I'd like to make this kind of a community. Start by submitting a quote, or perhaps a short essay or poem, anything you think is interesting or enlightening. I'd be more than happy to post it here. Also, we received our printer/scanner today, so you can expect a pics gallery to be up in a few days, I'll be working on it.
2/25/02 10:35 PM- I've been wanting to write something about metaphysics for a long time now, and I've finally had the time to sit down and do a satisfactory job of it. I urge you to read my short treatise on logic, and then that on metaphysics, and give me as much feedback as you can. You can consider both of these essays works in progress as I read more and expand my knowledge on the subjects. Next I plan to write an essay outlining agnosticism, my manifesto so to speak, and one on drugs, which I'm sure will be quite popular. Expect much more content in the future. Also, you should check out the link to Landover Baptist at the bottom of the page and read their most recent article on 'black Jesus', it's quite humorous.
2/23/02 9:05 PM- Site Design v0.10. Welcome to The Thought Emporium, my newest endeavor into the world of web design. As you most likely know, I've recently built a new system and now have access to Dream Weaver 4 for my design. This site is going to be a bit more philosophical in nature, but you can expect the news and rants to stay focused mostly on humor. Also, I welcome any and every submission that you wish to send in for the site, you can find out contact information further down the page. To get things kicked off, I've posted a mixes page, a linux page, a link to my old site, and a short treatise on logic and its applications. Expect more content, and thanks to all those who've made it this far with me.
